This is the last product that I buy from Black & Decker (Delta is owned by them). A fast summary = 10 months without use, $350.00 cost of new parts to make usable with only a need for a new pully. This product became unusable with only limited use. The big problem came with attempts to get new parts.
Buyer beware. Still trying to get credit to my account. I wish I could give an honest review of this lathe, but I have been unable to order one. I have tried to order on two different sites and have been told that they are no longer available.
Buy it, you will like it. It was easy to set up, runs quietly, hardly any vibration, and I am thoroughly satisfied. I WAS just a little bit hesitant to buy this lathe because the reviews were not all positive. I am really glad I did, though, because it is a very good piece of equipment.
I am going to look into returning it and getting a different model. My father bought this lathe and within weeks the switch broke and he had to wait months for a replacement switch, and then a few months later, the switch broke again, and he is having to wait months for a replacment switch.
I started to not choose this lathe due to a hand full of negative reviews here but am very glad that I decided to purchase it. Not saying that's the case here, unfortunately some flawed products get past quality control. I've been using it for a month now, and when I say using it I mean it.
You have to take negative reviews with a grain of salt. But please don't let one or two bad apples spoil the whole barrel. Many can be attributed to malcontents.people that just don't like anything.
I am very pleased with the Delta 46-715 lathe. After downloading their comparison test of six lathes priced under $1000 I discovered that the Delta 46-715 came in second over all and was their choice for best-buy. Read reviews on other sites as well before you make the mistake of passing on a fantastic product like the Delta 46-715HAPPY TURNING Delta 46-715 9.8 Amp 14-Inch Swing by 40-Inch between Centers 3/4-Horsepower Woodworking Lathe, 120-Volt 1 Phase
It has been running trouble free for at least four hours every day for the past month. I couldn't imagine that Delta made a problematic product like described in reviews below so I checked with Wood magazine.
